Kingsley Crystalbrook

Kingsley Crystalbrook is a significant adaptive reuse project involving the transformation of Newcastle’s former City Administration Centre into a contemporary five-star hotel. The refurbishment retained the building’s distinctive Brutalist form while introducing new architectural elements to support its conversion into a high-end hospitality environment.

FC Glass & Aluminium contributed to the project through the supply and installation of glazing systems integrated within the existing structure. Working within the constraints of a heritage-listed building, the scope required careful coordination with the original façade, structural grid, and new internal layouts. All glazing elements were delivered to align with the architectural intent while meeting current performance and compliance standards.

The project presented typical challenges associated with refurbishment works, including working within existing openings, managing tolerances, and sequencing installation alongside other trades. Attention to detail was critical to ensure that new aluminium-framed systems integrated cleanly with retained building elements, maintaining both visual consistency and functional performance.

Internally, glazing solutions were installed to support the reconfiguration of the building into hotel accommodation and public spaces, including guest rooms and shared hospitality areas. Externally, façade works required a balanced approach, preserving the character of the original structure while delivering upgraded performance outcomes.

The Kingsley project reflects FC Glass & Aluminium’s capability to deliver glazing solutions within complex refurbishment environments. It demonstrates experience in working with existing buildings, coordinating with project stakeholders, and delivering outcomes that meet both architectural and construction requirements on a large-scale commercial development.
